How many blogs do you need to create passive income online?

The answer to this question is simple:
  • How much time do you have to write on more than one blog?
  • Do you want to write about more than one niche?
  • Are you able to keep track of all your work?
If you can keep track of more than one blog, then by all means, have more than one blog. I make money from two blogs, however, up until about a year ago, I only made money from one.

So, to answer your question you can make money from one blog or several, if that is what you want to achieve.

I have two blogs. I update this blog on a weekly basis, sometimes daily, while my other blog, it feels like I'm lucky if I get to update them once a week. However, once is all I need for my second business, while this blog needs more of my time. While I enjoy writing on both my blogs, it really feels as if sometimes your work can take care of itself when your blog is running smoothly.

Many bloggers choose to create more than one blog when they realize that their main blogs are getting more than enough traffic by itself, and they do not need to check on their work on a daily basis.

So, once you get to this point, or even before, if you feel that you are ready to move on, and start a new blog, then by all means, do it!

On several articles, I mention the importance of being able to balance your work, and being able to attract readers, and high-paying clients with your blog. One of the pros of having more than one blog, is being able to connect with more readers, and being able to have more ways for future clients to get a hold of you.

In my post: Hey, if your freelance business growing?, I specify on how writers can take their work to the next level (if they choose to) even if they do not have more than one blog.

It can be hard juggling more than one blog, let me tell you! I have trouble keeping up with two businesses, let alone different blogs at the same time!

For those of you who want more than one blog, try these tips:
  • Focus on your niche, and keep your blogs up to date
  • update your blogs at least three times a week to begin with.
  • create a facebook page for your blogs, and share it with as many people that you can. Remember, if the main reason why you want more than one blog is to make money from it, you need people to reach your blog!
  • Keep your affiliate marketing relevant to your blog! For example: It will do you absolutely NO GOOD to have a blog about fashion, and accessories, while you are advertising books, and movies on your blog. Keep your affiliate marketing relevant. Promote what you are writing about, and watch your income grow!
  • Do not get caught up in the moment! This tickles me, because its happened to me! Picture this: You are getting traffic to your blog, you are making money, and you see the results right away. Now, you want to move on to your next business venture, and you focus on building another blog. The first month, the money is great, and then you see a decline in your income. You check on your blog, and guess what! You have less traffic than before, you have less followers, and some of your links no longer work.. Here is the BIG problem when it comes to working on more than one blog: like a regular business you CAN'T forget about it. You do not keep your blog up to date, your work will suffer. Then all of your hard work from the first few months will go down the drain. Its hard having more than one blog/ business BUT it can also be very rewarding!
  • Lastly, keep up with your followers! I personally would like to thank absolutely every single person that reads and comments on my work! Thank you! I try my hardest to provide as much information as I can remember in order to keep all of my loyal readers! It can be hard to keep up with every single reader on your blog, but without them, you wouldn't have any traffic. So, take the time to answer their questions, and praise their work.
I hope this helps all those bloggers out there who have doubts, or fears about starting a new blog, or new business on the side of freelancing! Have fun!
